ASD Endorsement Course Schedule and Registration
FDLRS GALAXY will offer one or more of the following three modules at no cost, and they satisfy the course requirements for the ASD Endorsement. We will offer as many modules as our funding will allow. FDLRS Galaxy serves the educators in Indian River, Martin, Okeechobee and St. Lucie School Districts.
Augmentative/Alternative Communication Systems and Assistive/Instructional Technology for Students with Autism Spectrum Disorder with Field Experience (80 in-service points)
This course enables educators to develop, increase and demonstrate knowledge and skills in the area of communication, augmentative and assistive technology and transition to adulthood of students with autism spectrum disorder. Course emphasis includes the assessment and use of augmentative/alternative communication systems (AAC), functional communication training, technology aided instruction and intervention, and transition beyond school. Field experience is embedded in the course.

Nature and Needs Assessment and Diagnosis of Students with Autism (80 in-service points)
This course enables educators to develop, increase and demonstrate knowledge and skills in the nature and needs of students with autism spectrum disorder. The course includes the basic needs of students with autism, evidenced-based practices, sensory differences, and the development of quality IEPs. Field experience is embedded in the course.

Applied Behavioral Analysis and Positive Behavior Supports for Students with Autism (80 in-service points)
This module enables educators to develop, increase, and demonstrate knowledge and skills in addressing challenging behaviors through reinforcement, social skills training, and self-monitoring in students with autism spectrum disorder. Course emphasis includes the evidenced-based interventions for decreasing challenging behavior, applied behavioral analysis, functional behavioral analysis, and data collection. Field experience is embedded in the course.
April 1, 2025 through June 27, 2025
- Most online autism endorsement course are 8-10 weeks long. Courses offer flexibility to work at your convenience during the 8-10 weeks, are completely online, and require no face-to-face meetings or specific dates/times required to be online (other than orientation).
- The ASD Endorsement courses can be taken in any order.

The Teacher Education Add-on Program for Certification in the ASD Endorsement is designed to provide teachers local access to professional development and to address Florida’s critical teacher shortages in programs for ESE. Enrollment is limited to 30 participants.
Credits earned through this program may not be used for college or university credit. It will be the responsibility of the participant to verify with their local staff development office and/or the FLDOE certification office, any additional certification requirements.
